Good luck with that. Philly is VERY restrictive. Even if found out how to apply for a permit and take a class, your odds of getting one are the same as winning Powerball.

You need to move outside the city to have a shot at it....

I live 20 minutes from Philly and they have enough gun trouble. WE DON'T NEED YOU EITHER.

There are several places you can go to purchase a hand gun... assuming that you meet the state requirements. (Notice I said state requirements)

Philadelphia is notoriously expensive on hand guns, ammo, and to some extent shooting ranges.

Philadelphia Archery and Gun Club - 831-833 ELLSWORTH ST. 215-551-4544 - have gotten some good reviews.. no personal experience.

Take a look at the NRA website for basic pistol courses in your area... or ask at the desk of the shooting ranges.

I would recommend renting one first, find the one you like then buy.

If renting, tell the person behind the counter that you do not have experience, and they should be willing to get you a freebie lesson on basic pistol handling, etc... but try and get to a NRA Basic pistol course if you can.. the npractice practice practice... and ask questions. other shooters are more than willing to step in when necessary... be careful on who you ask... they may be a noob as well.

i live half an hour away and feel unsafe even from where i am
