Me and my husband are in a debate on where our 3 year old should sit. I think the safest place is in the middle, He says that Texas law states the child is supposed to ride by the door.....

What do you think??

  1. The way modern cars are constructed I would of thought near the door so as to take the maximum effect of airbags but on the side opposite side to the driver so you can turn and access your child in the event of an accident.

  2. The backseat of the car in the middle is the safest place. I have been to hundreds of accidents.

  3. Hope, the safest place for the child or anyone is in the middle of the back seat.

Uncomfortable, yes, but it's also the seat that typically has the largest "crush zone," an area around which the car collapses in a collision, ultimately protecting an occupant.

  4. my self i would prefer in the middle cause if there is a accented he are she wouldn't get crushed in the doors if your hit from the side i have three kids my older ones set next to the doors and my smallest set in the middle believe ME if they all were able to set in the middle i would put them there

  5. i'd say middle, cuz what do you think would happen if you got hit on the side? at least in the middle theres a few feet between your child and the door ...

  6. I would say the middle that way if some stupid person hits the side of your car your child will be a little further away from the impact.  If your child's that young I would also suggest using a seat for kids or a booster seat which is safer for children than a regular car seat.  Good Luck

  7. In the middle, definitely! The window seats are dangerous because of side impacts- the middle is less likely to get damage from a car hitting you, its definitely the safest place to sit. Just make sure all the straps & belts are done correctly so the kid/carseat can't fly forward to the windshield. Here's a study on middle seat vs. window seats.

Also check the airbag warnings if you have side ones- front airbags can kill children I know, so maybe if you have those the kid has to sit in the middle no matter what?

  8. by the door
