  1. Just as the Son of man came, not to be ministered to, but to minister and to give his soul a ransom in exchange for many.”

1 Corinthians 15:3: “I handed on to you, among the first things, that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.”

Faithful and deserving of full acceptance is the saying that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Of these I am foremost- 1 Tim. 1:15

  2. Martin S's first verse certainly does say this.  Life as a ransom.  What other meaning can you infer?

The death and the resurrection are essential beliefs for seeing God.  What Gospel do you suppose Jesus told His disciples to preach?  And what do you think the baptism represented, if not His death, burial and resurrection?

  3. I don't believe that exact phrase is ever used.

  4. Try Luke CH.9 Verse 21-27 and 43-45

I dont know what your motivation to ask such a question is, but if it's honorable, I'm glad you did! You inspired me to pick up my Bible, which I've neglected for a long time. Now I wonder why I did.

    God Bless

  5. Different versions of the Bible use different words. If you have heard this from someone else, maybe they were paraphrasing.

Martin's "...give His life a ransom for many" is clearly about Jesus dying for our sins. You must not have read it right.

  6. Matthew 20:28  just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

John 3:14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,  15  that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.  16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  17  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
