I keep hearing that the bible says that homosexuality is a in. Exactly where -- in what book is this stated?

  3. Where in the Bible does it say GOD says homosexuality is a sin? So far all these verses are just proving what I already assumed. Some delusional old man decided to dictate what is right or wrong and used God as a source.

There are many verses that people use to say that homosexuality is a sin.  It doesn't say those words exactly though.  It is all in how you interpret it and if you are willing to do some history reading about the time certain statements were made...as well as of course trusting others opinions above your own.  I gave up looking at all that stuff a long time ago and I just accept people as they are and let God do the talking.

  5. In Leviticus, right alongside where it says that it's okay to own (and beat) slaves, that women are property, it's a sin against god to eat shellfish, and that you should stone your neighbor if he wears mixed fiber clothing.

    Heb 13:4 "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral."

    Furthermore Jesus said concerning marriage "at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’" of which he took as a precedent for marriage

A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger / rage, does that make it right for then to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality.

    However, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17).


  21. In reality it is not a sin but it IS a mental sickness.  Mentally healthy people will have normal relation with the opposite s*x.

  22. What does it matter if and where it is? Like many Biblical admonitions, it's out of date and out of touch with modern times.

    I don't really think that the ritualistic social mores of 4th century BC nomadic desert tribe, with all their superstitions and paranoia,  should be applied to a democratic 21st century Superpower, any more than I would apply Mayan rituals to baseball games or install druids as technicians in nuclear power plants.

    Yes, homosexual behavior is a sin. Leviticus (a book of Israelite law) says a number fo things about what is and isn't acceptable sexually, and a man lying with another man as a man lies with a woman is one of the definitely unacceptable acts.

    Another possible reference is the story of Lot, and his guests in the city of Sodom.

    The men of the city wanted to "know" Lot's guests (angels). This wasn't a shake-hands, how-do-you-do kind of knowing. We're talking s*x. The locals wanted to have s*x with the angels.

    God found this abominable (a sin), and wanted to destroy the city, rather than allow the men of the city to continue to comit this sin. Lot haggled with God about how many righteous (straight?) men he could find to save the city. Ultimately, Lot couldn't find enough righteous men, and was commaded to save his family and they left town.
