Where in the carribeans do people live?

Like where in houses or apartments??

and is it expensive like here in the US

I am from the Caribbean and we live in normal homes like normal people.

A lot of the cities in the Caribbean are not that big so there are many small apartments near by. In many areas of the Caribbean people live in farms.

In Trinidad we live in houses, apartments, and some (The rich) live in hotels.

You can get a very nice place for under $200 US a month, but alot of areas charge you US prices.  So you could end up paying a hefty some.

but barbados is relatively small so...

some Caribbean islands are bigger and ppl live on farms

unfortunately poverty is widespread in some of these islands as well and ppl live in shacks and huts.

People live in both apartments and condos and homes of all sizes...lots of things are way more expensive than here in teh US because they're islands, and everything has to be transported in!

Barbados has varied prices based on region.  It is true Barbados is small (About 2.5X the size of Washington D.C.)

Barbados has I would say is urban sprawl.  Neighbourhoods all seem to overlap into one another now-a-day. If you want to live along the coast it tends to be more expensive. ESP. the west coast. (The "Platinum Coast") or the South Coast. (The "Gold Coast")...

Many rich people have been trying to buy up land in Barbados and it is causing the demand price to rise sharply.

There's said to be 18 Billionares from around the world that own houses somewhere in Barbados...

* Warren Buffet - Either him or his family are occationally seen on the west coast. It is widely suspected they have a place.)

Many British people right now have been moving into Barbados in LARGE numbers...  They're now the second largest group of people moving into Barbados.  Barbados is an expensive place.  Look through some of the online real estate sites about Barbados I'm sure you'll notice most prices will be between US$400,000 - US$700,000

I'm a Bajan living in the US and I can say that renting in Barbados is generally cheaper than it is to rent in the US especially if you live in the northern cities like NYC.  My family lives in a relatively large house in Barbados, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 2 living rooms.  Meanwhile I have friends who live in smaller homes. My father has always lived in an apartment.  So it varies depending on individual situations and needs.
