Where is Ben? just kidding,do you think the bulldogs have been terrible in their recruiting of older players?

they picked up jade rawlings instead of nick stevens acouple of years ago,then they recruited Acker who has struggled and to me looks finished.they have lost jordan mcmahon,and nathan brown whats going on in bulldog land.your thoughts?

Spot on Forky!  

Collingwood made those mistakes in the '90's and it resulted in poor results every time.   Who can forget us recruiting Dermott Berendon!!!

Bulldogs are doing the same thing and will never get anywhere until they recruit young players and built the team up - it may take 5 years but its worth it.

They could always pick up Daniel Chick. He's available....Only joking...............

I don't think any team should worry about recruiting older players - with exceptions, of course.

Look at Fremantle. They have paid the penalty for recruiting 'ready made players'. They could just not gel as a team. I'm sure Harvey will concentrate on youth for the next few years.

I thought Rawlings would do ok, but for some reason failed to produce, as for Aker I still think he has the ability to be good for the Bulldogs. Mcmahon and Brown were bad losses, but there is still the draft to come, and it was only a couple of seasons ago that the Dogs were right up there.

The 2008 season will determine whether the right decisions were made

Yeah the swans went down the Brereton path as well for no result. Sometimes it works well eg Wayne Schwass but it usually doesn't. It's hard to rebuild because you have to resign to the fact you will be c**p for a few years so I guess they fell in the trap of hoping for a quick result.

I thought they had reached the pits when they picked up Acker. He was never going to be a benefit to them....not even in the short term.

Is there money troubles at that club. Some of their player trades & selections make me think that way.

I think Rawlings had potential, but it just didnt work out. As for Aker, I was very surprised that anyone picked him up. McMahon & Brown to the Tigers though....thanks very much for that Doggies. Cant believe we got Jordan, thats great. The wheels fell off a bit this year for the Dogs, i wonder if they will bounce back?

They had no chance of geting Stevens The Blues took him with there Number one pre season pick , Aker is a good pick up he can turn a game and i think he still has good years in him. Ben Hudson is a good ruckman

Yeah they should get some young guys. i think its coz they are trying to look for short term and quick success. They arent looking too far into the future. They have to stop recruiting older players, or the club will suffer.
