  1. As the previous posted stated, used nuclear fuel is stored on-site until the federal government decides to take custody of it.  Federal law states the government was supposed to take custody of it by 1998, but that didn't happen.

Low level radioactive waste is sent to one of three facilities as described here: http://www.nei.org/keyissues/nuclearwast...

  2. All nuclear power plants are keeping all their spent fuel on site. Low level waste, like contaminated gloves or whatever, goes to a site licensed to accept it and other such waste, like radioactive waste from hospitals that do radiation treatments for cancer or whatever, but I don't know where that particular plant sends its waste.

  3. Detroit, Michigan==If I am wrong, why is it such a aw full city?

  4. This is probably not 100% accurate, but when I had a project about nuclear waste I found that most of it, today, is simply on the site, stored in containers, until they can move it somewhere safely.

However I can tell you that Yucca Mountain, about 100 miles away from Las Vegas, is a location that it might eventually go to.  This is quite unlikely though because of the distance.

I hope this helped (atleast a little!)
