  1. HI the answer above gives you almost correct information.  However, in reality it is quite a walk from the Luas to Croke Park.  Also I am not too sure about it only being a mile from Dublin Castle , I think this is not correct. It is walkable to Temple Bar, but certainly not to be recommended at night as you would have to pass through some not so safe areas.  If you are older or have any disability forget the thought of walking. If you are young and fit its no problem.

    Enjoy your visit

  2. Croke Park is situated in north Dublin between Drumcondra and Ballybough and is bordered by Jones's Road to the west, Clonliffe Road to the north, St. James Avenue to the east and the Royal Canal to the south. The stadium is well served by public transport.

Bus, Rail, DART and LUAS can all bring you to within 15 minutes walk from the ground.  This link provides good information as well:                        http://www.crokepark.ie/files/croke_park...                      Facing Croke Park Stadium, Jurys Croke Park Hotel is located within walking distance of Temple Bar and approximately five miles from Dublin Airport. This location is also less than a mile from Trinity College and Dublin Castle.

  3. Croke Park Stadium is located in the Drumcondra area, which is roughly about a 20 minute walk north of O'Connell Street (Dublin's main street in the city centre).

The nearest hotel to the stadium is the Jury's Croke Park Hotel, which is literally across the road from the stadium so you can't get much closer! Other good choices are the Academy Hotel, the Royal Dublin Hotel or the Comfort Inn Parnell Square. These hotels are located in the city centre in the Upper O'Connell Street area and make a great base for a stay in Dublin - close to Temple Bar, Dublin Castle, Trinity College, shopping streets and yet you're within easy walking distance of Croke Park Stadium!

It's really easy to get there by foot from the city centre - starting out at Upper O'Connell Street (opposite end to river). Turn right onto Parnell Street and continue onto Summerhill Road. Turn left onto the North Circular Road, and take a right onto Russell Street which leads you onto Jones Road where you'll see Croke Park in front of you. The walk should take no more than 15/20 minutes.

If you do choose one of the hotels on Upper O Connell Street then you can easily get Dublin Bus number 13A which you can pick up outside Dr.Quirkey's on Upper O'Connell Street or the number 16 bus which you can pick up outside the Londis on Upper O Connell Street will get you there too. The bus journey takes roughly 10 minutes. Hope this helps!
