Where is Hartlepool, Cleveland?

its on the coast, just short of newcastle upon tyne (that is if you are travelling north)

as for the route planner, if you were puttin in hartlepool, cleveland - trying putting in hartlepool, durham instead -  i got directions ok just

Hi.its just north off Middlesbourgh and the River Tees

if you are coming north on A19, after crossing the River Tees flyover take the A689 to Hartlepool, if coming south on the A19 take the A179 to Hartlepool, that is only a few miles after Peterlee turnoff.
