  1. Much of North America uses fuel oil for Winter heating including Canada. Most industrialized nations use fuel oil for heating as it is less expensive and easier to store. Every bit of plastic is made from oil. Many countries around the world use oil and natural gas for manufacturing of electric power. Natural gas units are especially fast to bring on line when power is needed in a hurry. Here in the Southwest we use it for peak load plants (Power plants only running during peak load). Many plants use natural gas for heating processes in manufacturing like glass plants in Central Europe. One of the major problems with the petroleum market right now is that countries like China and India that have begun industrialization are turning more and more to petroleum products for power and heating demanded by their industries as well as their growing number of automobiles used by the people and the companies.

  2. In just about everything you touch, house, car, road, concrete, clothing, shoes, etc has oil in or oil was used to make it.
