You must mean Ramstein Air Force Base. It's near a town called Kaiserslautern, not near Frankfurt.  It's approximately 1 to 1.5 hr drive south-west of Frankfurt (about 70-80 miles). The Air Force Base at the Frankfurt airport is about to be closed down.

There's another village between Kaiserslautern and Ramstein that's called Landstuhl. That's where the large Army Hospital is located. That's about a 5 minute drive to Ramstein.
