Uhm, I'd think this was a really dumb question except for one thing. When I came to Taiwan for the first time, I had no idea it was an island. I made all my arrangements to come here through friends and travel agents and it simply never occurred to me to look it up.

I made the discovery on the airplane during descent. Wow! Silly me.

Of course, had I wanted to look it up, I could easily have done so in about two seconds in an atlas or online... Google probably would have got you there before you even finished going through the process of posting a question...
