Where is a ballet dancer's center of gravity?

when i watch my ballet teacher, it seems like she is weightless. where should i be thinking about to achieve the same results?

  1. I would focus on how you carry yourself around. You should focus on how you present moves when you are traveling. You probably could look as weightless as her but maybe don't know it.


  2. think of this analogy:

    push down with your shoulders,

    up with your head,

    down with your feet,

    and up with your abs.

    just stand up and try doing all those things, it really helps.

  3. it's all in the core

    that's where your balance and fluidity comes from. you need to work on that if you want to have great technique and control

  4. It's all in your stomach. Once you let go of it, you will have less balance and strength. In our class, this was always stressed. Try doing pirouette without holding on your stomach muscle and most likely you will be off balance. Let go of your stomach, then leaps/jete will be harder. Even when you arch back, if you let go of your stomach, you will put more stress on your body.

    On one leg, straighten your body horizontally and find where your center is. Once you can visualized it, that's where your center is. Even when you are not dancing, and just stressed out from something else, concentrate on that center, and you will find some peace or even more.
