Where is a cool place to have dinner and drinks in Montego Bay Jamaica.?

I'm going to Jamaica for the 1st time in 2 days. Looking for a cool hip place to hang out in Montego Bay. Is there anything I should know about travelling in Jamaica?

go to Margaritaville!! stay in the tourist areas and don't venture off alone in an uncrowded area.

PORK PIT on Gloucester Avenue (same street as the Hip Strip).  They serve jerk pork or chicken....a good mix of local and foreign patrons.

MoBAY PROPER (you can access it from Gloucester Avenue also).  They serve very good steamed fish, but it can be very busy on Friday and weekend nights....mostly local patrons.

MARGARITAVILLE is nice if you want to do the touristy thing.

JERKY'S has a nice atmosphere but it is located a outside of the touristy area.  It is perfectly safe though and is worth the trip.  They serve jerk chicken and pork.  Try their jerk pork sausage if you go....a good mix of local and foreign patrons.  It is set up like an open-air sports bar and sometimes they have live performers.

When you come to Jamaica try spend Jamaican dollars as much as possible.  You will end up paying less than if you were to pay in US$.   If it means that you have to go to the bank every other day, I think it is better for you.

If you pay with a credit card, be sure to check you bill for accuracy and keep all your receipts; there have been a number of cases where charges have been deliberately duplicated and/or numbers stolen and used.  Hotel workers are notorious for stealing credit card information.

Leave the expensive jewelry and camera equipment at home.  

Be sure to bring your common sense and intuition.  If something does not sound right, look right or feel right, then something is WRONG......get out of that situation as quickly as possible.
