  1. in 2002, I stayed at the Hotel Galleria, which has less than 10 rooms.  Our rate then was about 100 euros.  Our room was nice, with it's own bathroom & a nice in-room breakffast, but here's the kicker - IT OPENED ONTO THE GRAND CANAL!   It also has a great location - right next door to the wooden Accademia bridge & within walking distance of St. Marks.  I would not hesitate to recommend it.

  2. Here below a few web sites for yr choice:

  3. Hotel Altieri. Is in Mestre, near Venice and it takes you 10 min by bus to get there. Is a lovely hotel, very cheap, very clean, the bus station is in front of the hotel and is very close to Marco Polo airport.

    Hotel Altieri Venice

51 Via Altinia Favaro Veneto - Venice 30030 - Italy

  4. I have always used www.veniceby.com to book B&B's in Venice. If you are staying 2 nights I would advise you to stay in Venice and not Mestre, it is worth the extra cost and extends the amount of time you have to spend in the city. I have stayed in Loconda Gaffaro and Loconda Aquavita. Loconda Gaffaro is close to the Academy and south of the train station. Aquavita is a short walk from the first vaparato station coming from the airport and is convenient for side trips to the islands. I have also rented an apartment, but for two nights a B&B is a better bargin. Veniceby.com has lots of photographs that I have found to be reliable. Good luck!
