Where is a good place in Puerto Rico to visit that is not to expensive and not so touristy?

Also I am thinking of going at the end of november around thanksgiving. Is this a good time?

Hi. November is a great time to go to PR. The weather is great. Prices will just start getting higher in November, but not as high as the winter. PR's prices are about the same as the US. San Juan is definitely more expensive, so dont stay there, but I do reccomend at least one day to visit Old San Juan. See the historical sights like El Morro. San Juan has a lot of tourists, but there are still locals that live there normal life, so you have plenty of real feeling & culture still. The rest of the island is usually less tourists. There are plenty of nice places to stay in PR. Some already mentioned Paradores. Yes, these are like small inns, most are by the beach, but not all. You can look here & see if you like anything

It really just comes down to what you like. If you are looking for gorgeous white sand secluded beaches then go to Vieques or Culebra Islands. They are very nice. Vieques even has a bioluminescent bay that glows in the dark. You take a kayak to see it. If you like surfing & nice sunsets, then go to Rincon on the west coast. Much of the west coast has nice golden & amber sand beaches. If you want to stay in a city, but not San Juan, then go to Ponce in the south. It has a European feel with lots of museums & nice architecture. There is Seralles Castle in Ponce & Guanica Dry Fores Close by too. Stay in Fajardo on the East Coast if you like Fishing & snorkeling. There are also small beautiful cays close by to visit. Also near Fajardo is Rio Grande where El Yunque Rain Forest is & close to Luquillo beach. If you like golf, then stay in Dorado in the North, you will also be close to Camuy Caves & Arecibo Telescope.  If you want to be in the serene mountains, then go to Utuado or somewhere in the central area. in here you can check out the little paradores, where you can stay for less money and most likely with local people,

November its a great time to come, since christmas here start after thanksgiving,

and I will recomend you Boquemar parador in cabo rojo, its in the west side of the island, and like 2 1/2 hours from San Juan, but you get some of the most beautiful beaches and a place really cool to hang around not so touristy...

Check out our local Paradores, they are like Inns or motels, around the island and are very reasonably priced. You can find them in the Metropolitan area also. You can contact the Tourism Company for information on Paradores and about the tourists don`t worry about them, the island is small but not that small. Besides, most people come here and just fit right in.
