Where is a good place in mexico to vacation at that is very cheap?

I plan on going in around a year. I'm not a real tourist-y type person, so anywhere that a lot of people don't flock. And also somewhere close to a beach, and maybe some cliffs or places to hike. Thank you (:

How about Campeche?  Very few tourists go to Campeche.  Click the link below, and you'll see three hostels that are eight dollars a night.  You would have to fly into Merida and take a two hour bus ride south to Campeche.  It's on the Gulf coast which hasn't been promoted as much as the other side of the Yucatan peninsula.

The Maya Riviera is gorgeous. The water is superb and you can find many smaller hotels where the rates are not too bad. Your best time will be in a resort on the beach, all inclusive type with entertainment and all the food you want. There are many places to explore there. The bus service there is cheap and air conditioned and it will take you up and down the coast. Just get online and check out expedia and travelocity and sometimes they have amazingly low rates for flight and hotels. Check out the ruins and Xcarat while there or Tulum.

If you want it to be cheap, go to Oaxaca (nice beaches there, some even nudist, beautiful capital) and Chiapas (great jungle in there and even a volcano near the border with Guatemala, nice villages).
