Question:

Where is a good place in the CA Bay Area I can get my tattoo fixed?

I wanted to get 2 Japanese characters done, and even brought in a picture of both symbols on paper. The artist showed me his sketch and I liked it. After I got the tattoo done and looked in the mirror at it, I liked it, but for some reason, I felt like something wasn't right.

When I got home I took a picture of it (it's on my back and can't look straight at it) and I noticed that the first symbol looked off.

Turns out he did that symbol in Chinese instead of Japanese. Stupid me didn't notice when he did the sketch since they almost look similar.

Here's a pic of both symbols: http://i33.tinypic.com/pn8rr.jpg

I got my tattoo a few months ago and it's completely healed. I'm ready to get it fixed and I don't want to go back to the place I got it.

Any artist or shop recommendations are much appreciated.

  1. Chances are the guy probably didn't do it on purpose.

I don't personally live in CA, but I can give you some good tips on finding a parlor that you will like.

Tattoo parlors are pretty common in California, so it won't be hard to at least find out where they are. Your phone book can help you with that. Before you decide on where you want it done, go in and talk to each artist at each place. It's important that you show your concern about your tattoo before you go in to get it fixed. Explain the situation to them, and I am sure that they will draw you up your tattoo with anything fixed that you would like. You wouldn't believe how honored most artists feel when you come to them to have them fix something! It shows that you trust them more than your previous artist.

It won't be too hard to fix, I assure you. Just make sure that you find a good artist that is friendly and will do a good job.

    Don't settle!

    Good luck. :]

  2. I got mine done (my prof. pic) at Humble Beginnings, off of W. San Carlos St. in San Jose.

    OR

my friends have gotten theirs done at Guru tattoo, also in San Jo

    GOOD LUCK!

  3. Hey, I recommend yelp.com and citysearch.com. On yelp, you can read reviews of tattoo parlors in your area, and on citysearch you can search best of ____ tattoo parlors. I looked up the SF one, but I dunno if that's where you're closest to, since the Bay Area is pretty big:
