I am cleaning up my house and have many huge boxes of old toys, book, clothes, VHS tapes and such that I don't need or use anymore. I know there are places like Purple Heart and Salvation Army. But is there any places that you give them the boxes of stuff and then they took though it all and then mail you a check for the amount or give you a tax rebate for all the stuff you gave them?

  1. Goodwill, St. Vincent de Paul, Salvation Army.  Any number of worthy charitable organizations in your area.  Goodwill will give you a donation receipt.  It's not in money amount, just lists what you donated.  They can't give what it's valued at.  That's between you and the IRS.  If it's a big ticket item, like a car or something, you might have to wait until they sell it and claim the amount they sold it for.

  2. You can contact the Salvation Army or find a shelter in your local neighborhood. I also know that depending on where you live the Epilepsy Foundation also does pick up of reuseable donations

  3. craigslist, yard sale.

  4. Have you thought about ebay? sometimes you'd be surprisedd what u can sell on there..and what udon'tt sell you can have a garage sale or put an add in the classified section of your local newspaper!!

  5. i think goodwill does tax deductions for donations. ive never heard of anywhere that sorts through all your junk and mails you a check. maybe you should have a yard sale
