I agree 100% - and not just because I used to work there.  In my experience, Olive Garden is just about the best restaurant for the money, and they have more than just Italian cuisine there.  There may be some local places that are just as good, but as you don't say where you're from, there's bound to be an Olive Garden somewhere near you.

as far as chains go i really like ruby tuesdays..  they always seem to have lousy service but i think the prices are decent and i love the salad bar..
