We are going to Chicago for my fiance's birthday next week. We would love to find someplace to grab dessert with a view of the fireworks at Navy Pier. Every place we are finding requires an entree purchase.

  1. You should get a drink at Charlie's Ale House which if you ask me is one of the better places to get a burger and beer in Chicago.  Chicagoans tend to avoid Navy Pier because we think it's too touristy, but I work in tourism and get a lot of freebies at Navy Pier so I'm sure that you can get a drink at dessert sitting at the bar at Charlie's.

If that doesn't work you can always get a funnel cake on the pier, or in the shops at the pier there's quite a few place to get some caramel corn, fudge ice cream which you can also take out to the pier.  Look under Snacks & Candy: http://www.navypier.com/din_shop/shoppin...

  2. Bubba Gump's for drinks, they have a gelateria for dessert called Massa (Italian Ice Cream with cinnamon sugared fried dough)!  Massa was showcased on Food Network for a new Ice Cream Flavor, but did't win! :-(

  3. The Swiss Hotel is a great place.

  4. you should check out one of the lunch/dinner/club cruises that are docked at Navy Pier...they range from $35 -$100+. They usually include a buffet and if you go on a evening cruise you can watch the fireworks from on the water.

google: spirit of chicago, oddessey or mystic blue, they are all owned by the same company

  5. Navy Pier itself has a few great options, but is somewhat limited. The River North neighborhood (which is in walking distance from the pier) has some amazing restaurants, including The Melting Pot where you can get amazing chocolate dessert fondue and great cocktails.
