Where is a good place to get a drink in downtown Cleveland?

I want to take friends out for a drink. They haven't been downtown in over a decade, and it has been many many years for me too. I know that the Flats are dead now, Hornblowers is gone, so where do you recommend? It will be a Summer Monday night and there is no Indians game (neither home or away) so I suspect that downtown will be quiet...but where should we go? Thanks!

p.s. Please name some specific places, instead of just saying something general like "Tremont". That will help me out a LOT! :-)

  1. There are a lot of places to go on East 4th Street between Prospect and Euclid.  Lola, Wonder Bar and Pickwick and Frolic are all fun.  The House of Blues is down there as well.

You have quite a few choices on West 6th Street and St. Clair too.  The Blue Point Grille and Metropolitan Cafe have nice bars.  Sushi Rock is a little farther down the street towards the lake and a few other bars whose names escape me at the moment.

There's also a wine bar a couple doors down from the Blue Point Grille that's nice - it's between West 6th and West 9th on St. Clair by the Cleveland Chophouse.

Hope this helps you a bit!

  2. the velvet dog on w 6th

  3. FAT FISH BLUE

    LANCER

  4. The Market Cafe, located on the street level of the Amtrust Building on E. 9th, turns into a cool wine bar with good appetizers after 5.

Sushi Rock on W. 6th has good happy hour specials and if you want to leave there, there are a dozen of other places on W. 6th to choose from.

  5. The Blind Pig!

    1228 W. 6th St.
