The most romantic I think is Le Pont de La Tour in Shad Thames.  The food is great and the atmosphere lovely but mainly for the amazing views over the river and Tower Bridge.  Make sure you ask for a window table.  It is so romantic to walk along the river after dinner as well.  Pricey but worth it  and far more romantic than Gordon Ramsay at Claridges (although I love it too!)

Me and my wife went to Cocoon, it is on Regent Street very close to Picadilly Circus, We went there on the eve of our first weddind Anniversary. Very nice the most amazing food and service a must. try www.cocoon-restaurants.com If you do go i hope you enjoy.

For a romantic meal in London, head for King's Cross and get a train out of London! I can't think of a less romantic city.

While travelling out, you could always crack open a bottle of champagne you bought earlier, and slide a few iced oysters down your throats...

If you've got some serious money, go to Gordon Ramsey at Claridges. Its absolutely beautiful and you will both feel really spoilt and decadent - which is a great way to start a romantic evening.

For the lower budget I really like The Apogee, its just off Leicester Square and upstairs they have these little hide away bits that are lit with lamps. Its very secluded so you get a lot of privacy and the food is great too.

La Portes Des Indes - Marble Arch station - absolutely amazing and some very romantic decor on the inside.. it's an Indo-French theme, and trust me... it takes you by surprise. my guy took me over there for our first date, and it blew me off my feet!

Take a picnic to Hyde Park and feed the ducks your leftovers. Very romantic but the weather is not so great at this time of year. Better to ask the question of a local when you get there.

Depends on what you like, personally I thought Cocoon was a bit more trendy vs romantic, Bleeding Heart is a very good french restaurant (my second fave) but my absolute favourite is Tentazioni, just over Tower Bridge on the South of the river, Mill St, off Jamacia Rd - superb Italian restaurant & one of London's best kept secrets - not as posh as the others in reputation but consistently fabulous food & I'm talking gourmet Italian, not your spag bol/lasagne etc. It is a cozy warehouse type setting & 5 min walk from Butlers Wharf where you could have a drink or cocktail at the Pont de La Tour first just to say you've been there & enjoy the view of the river & Tower Bridge (don't eat there it is soooooo expensive & not worth it, geared up for the corporate card culture ...)

Google The Bleeding Heart restaurant - near Farringdon tube - if you can afford it it is a wonderfully romantic treat - real fireplaces, tudor style, wonderful food - genuine old building - a real treat.
