Where is a good place to have a brithday party?

At a beach park with facilities (picnic benches, barbecues, bathrooms and showers).  Have a barbecue, go swimming, boogie boarding, skim boarding, surfing, just float around, play volleyball and other beach games, build a sand castle.  Lots of things for your guests to do!

Bowling centers are great for all ages and a lot cheaper than most places. They usually let you bring your own cake, and if you bring a Sharpie they'll let your friends sign a retired pin as a souvenir for you.

Other good places would be parks (picnic or cookout style), waterparks, mini golf, paint-your-own ceramic places, even the movie theater (you can usually get a group discount for this).

For an adult, I would suggest talking to the favorite restaurant of the birthday person.  Alot of restaurants will do drinks and appetizers at a discount and close off a room for you.  At my bday party, we told guests we would buy appetizers, but they would be responsible for real food and drinks.  The restaurant let us use their VIP lounge and gave us all apps 1/2 off.  This made for a really nice party and very little worry or preparation involved.
