  1. Nha Trang, for sure! Gorgeous beaches, and it's really relaxing there - you can get a huge, spotless room at the Nha Trang Beach Hotel for about $25, and from there then just cross the street and hang out at the Sailing Club, which is really fun at night. I recommend going here during the summer only, you'll meet lots of interesting people from all over the world and it will be busier - it's kind of lonely the rest of the year. Good luck with your vacation!

  2. HANOI HILTON!  ASK  John McCain!

  3. Dalat, Danang, HCM City, Sapa, Ba Na Hill, Hanoi, Hai Long Bay and Vung Tau!!!

  4. Vietnam is the in place to visit right now. If you start in Hanoi make sure to take the night train to Sapa and stay at the Mountain View Hotel. (Great views and inexpensive)  It could be the highlight of your trip. Take the 2 day tour to Halong Bay. Very nice. Then start south bound. I firmly believe that Hoi An is the best place to visit in Vietnam. The ancient town is a World Heritage city and absolutely beautiful. The beach is white sand and 40 kilometers long. A great place to relax and eat great food.  The Mango Rooms is noted as one of the best restaurants in Vietnam.  The Sleepy Gecko has bike tours that are just amazing. So my overall vote of a place to visit in Vietnam is Hoi An.

Vietnam is really inexpensive. Hotels cost about $10 a night.  Of course you can pay much more if you have the budget.  You can find beer at less than 15 cents a glass. The people are wonderful.

Pass on Nha Trang unless you like multi story buildings on the beach although many people love the area.  Dalat is great if a bit corny and cool during the hot summer months.  Saigon is always and experience.

Phu Quoc was disappointing to me. They just don't have a clue as far as conservation and the beach's and harbors were filthy. The infrastructure is just not there yet but you can see that the island will be something special in the future. It’s not special now. The Mekong is great with lots of things to see but you can do it in a couple of days. You are going to have a great time. I went around the world to many different countries. I have been on the road for over two years. I chose to purchase a house in Hoi An. It’s the best.

  5. If you come to Hanoi - the capital of Vietnam you have:

    - Airport: Noi Bai <Nội Bài>

    - Taxi: Noibai taxi to go from Noibai airport to the hotel.

    - Some taxi firms in city: Mai Linh, taxi Thu do, taxi Van xuan, ...and many others..

    - Hotel: Bao son Hotel, Hanoi Hotel, Nikko Hotel, Sofitel Metropole Hotel, Sofitel Plaza Hotel, Hilton Opera Hotel, Fortuna  Hotel, Melia Hotel, Guoman Hotel... and others

    - Special place in Hanoi:

+ "Hoan Kiem Lake = Guom lake = The give back sword lake" - the lake connected closely with an anceint story of Hanoi and "Ngoc Son temple" and "The huc bridge".

    + One column Church

+ Royal college - the oldest college of VN

+ 36 streets and distric (anceint street)

+ anceint Bat Trang ceramic village - to buy Ceramic

+ Ha Dong silk village - to buy silk made from natural silk

+ Ho Chu Tich - Uncle HO tomb.

    + ...

+ and many many anceint church and temple in Hanoi.

Hope you have a special and interesting tour to vietnam

  6. It would depend in part on how much time you have, and of course what interests you.

I really like Ha Noi, so I would go to HN first. If I was  in VN for 7 days, I would take an overnight train to Lao Cai and then bus up to Sapa, spend a day or two and go back on an overnight train. I could easily spend a week or two or more in Ha Noi (I lived there for 4 years and loved it!).

  7. Definately Nha Trang, Dream Hotel opposite the beach and water park and central to shops and nitespots.  Very reasonable rates if you barter hard.

  8. Well some that I know are;

Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Hue, Halong Bay and Hanoi.

Hotels? Well the Sheraton Hotel and Park Hyatt are excellent hotels.

    That's about it I'm afraid...

  9. evason hideaway, bit of a trek to get to, but worth it!

  10. China Beach
