Just looking for a good spot with small ridable waves for a beginner. I hear some of the most territorial surfers are in this area too. How crowded are the beaches/surf spots? How thick of a wetsuit will i need?

  1. i would go to santa cruz or something, cuz its sooo cold in frisco, and  i dont think frisco has its own beach, maybe im wrong

  2. Two ideal spots depending on where you live:

San Fran area: go to Linda Mar

Santa Cruz area: go to Cowell's

Both are great spots for beginners and neither has any kind of heavy local scene.

You'll want to wear a 4/3 suit with booties.  Hoods are optional, but I've taken to wearing one and I really really like it.

  3. People go to Bolinas, but theres so many people their you're gonna be like what the ****.  The locals hate it.  Its all the people coming from the city with their longboards.  The breaks are gentle rollers, but their are typically 50 people out there at one little break and most people have no idea what they're doing.  There isnt really a lineup just a blob of people out there and people are either running over you or you're running over someone.  People dont really know about "a lineup".  The times Ive been to Bolinas Ive left a little frustrated, but you'll probably have fun.  I think Stinson is pretty good, nobody goes their because they think all the sharks are their, but there are more sharks at Bolinas because of the jetty/lagoon entrance.  The water is cold (freezing)  I wear a 5/4, but most people wear a 4/3 full.  There are limited breaks in the bay area and everyone wants to surf, I mean everyone and it has gotten so crowded out there its almost not fun.  I still go out though...

  4. just go down the coast and look for a none crowded wave
