  1. It is easy enough to find out what grants are available. You can do an Internet search on grants and foundations. What you learn, whether on your own or by buying lists from hucksters, is that there are no grants available to you. Government agencies and foundations that make grants available have requirements for awarding grants. They issue a request for proposal that specifies the purpose of the grant and the qualifications that you have to meet to get the grant. Scientists, universities, and other researchers write proposals to request the grant. They compete with other proposals and many are rejected.

The grants are for purposes such as studying pollution, developing a silent lawn mower (no one ever applied for that one), finding a cure for pimples, or developing energy sources for indigent Africans. Researchers who get the grants have to spend the money as required by the granting agency and have to account for the money they spend with reports to the agency.

There are no grants to individuals who need money to pay off a debt, buy a home, or take a vacation. Business that sell grant information and claim governments give thousands away want your money for the information but they don't tell you the facts. Don't waste your money on them.
