  1. If you'd like something more fancy, try Portland City Grill, the view is amazing, 30th floor of a bank building in downtown.  It's fancy but not crazy fancy either.  More expensive for sure.

For something more casual but still very nice maybe try Paya Hyden's, two locations, they have great desserts and dinner.  You could even share a dessert if you like or have two, the wide variety of choices really gives you both something to talk about.

As for suggestions, just try to relax, she already said yes to the date so the hardest part is out of the way!  Be thoughtful, open doors for her, give her your coat if it's cold, but nothing major you know, for a first date.  Mostly just try to have fun with your best friend and not be too nervous!

  2. You should know your best friend, as well as your budget, and work accordingly. What does she like to do, and what does she like to eat that you're alright with eating. The usual dinner and a movie can be a good time-saver. Think of maybe a lunch date with a day showing (for cheaper movie ticket prices).

Outdoor sports in the park, like tennis or something like that. Pretty cheap date. Picnic in the park (bring your own food or from the Albertson's (or Fred Meyer) deli? Blue Lake Regional Park ( http://www.metro-region.org/index.cfm/go... - $4 per car entry)? You can go boat paddling for an hour for about $15 for two people.

The more expensive approach: maybe indoor rock climbing lessons ( http://www.portlandrockgym.com/ )? Maybe dinner at Claim Jumper or Olive Garden (Clackamas area)? Or something like sushi? Sinju in the Pearl District ( http://www.sinjurestaurant.com/ ).

What about Oaks Park ( http://www.oakspark.com/ ), fun for all ages? Or maybe even two-person bowling? Burgerville or Jack in the Box?

  3. Take her to The Oregon Zoo, to see a concert or just see the animals. Or, you can go to Oaks Park for skating or rides.

I also reccommend seeing a movie around your area.

You could also take her to the Willammette River for a Jet Boat ride :)

Maybe even take her downtown for a walk and out to dinner.

    Hope this helps!
