I don't want to go on land or on a building. I went on Navy Pier before but that was a long time ago- is it still a good place to watch?

  1. At the north end of North Avenue beach, on the west side of Lake Shore Drive.  It is a little removed, but there is plenty of space.

  2. Best view to see the Air Show is Montrose Harbor and between Belmont and Addison. If you want to see the water show go to North Ave Beach there they have grandstand seats.  Marie

  3. I came across a place by accident last yr during the air show.

The Sears Tower observatory.  It gave me a very interesting perspective of the planes.  If I didn't have other things planned that day,I would have watched for a few hours especially if I had some binoculars.

  4. You could try the Signature Lounge at the top of the Hancock Building, although I'm going to suspect that that will get crowded pretty early. and you can't just sit there and not buy anything so it will cost you a bit too. If you want to see the Water part of the show, you gotta be near the main part of the action, Oak street Beach. If you are primarily concerned with the Air part, you can go as far north as Foster Ave. Beach or as far south as the beach near the Museum of Science and Industry and see the jets and stuff. You probably won't be able to see the paratroopers and parachuters, though, but big whoop.

  5. I watched with my ex from the top of one of the 40 story apartment/condo buildings near the lake.  It was cool because we were above the planes.
