Hi, When I turn 21, I want to start working at a bar, so I can have good experience. I was wondering where a good place is to work at a bar? Like city and state, or another country? any ideas or thoughts?

  1. AS a restaurant owner, try finding an independent restaurant that likes your personality and is willing to give you a chance. Once you have a little experience, under your belt, you can go anywhere you like. The finest resorts, fine dining, or casual bars. Every high volume bar wants someone with experience. Go in with experience to get the job you really want.

Forget the nuddie bars. Someone in the top places will not even give you the time of day with those credentials.

    Good luck!

  2. I used to run two night clubs in TX and I can agree that working in the adult entertainment industry will limit the chances you have anywhere else you decide to work, outside of the bar business too. Start in your own hometown and learn a few things, like how to handle a drunk with diplomacy and grace; how to make change; how to show up on time and for every shift. Those are the things that your bosses will want to know about when you move to a big city where the real money is. There are other things you can only get with experience. Like: how to get the orders right; how to give those drink orders to the bartender in the order he or she prefers; and how to manuever with a full tray of drinks in a room full of people that are tipsy and not paying attention to you. It isn't as easy as a lot of wait staff make it look. I wish you luck.

  3. Barretts lounge

  4. Any city, and focus on a downtown area.

First, you may already be able to work behind a bar.  I'm 20 (21 in 4 months) and have been bartending for over a year now.  Check with your state rules...

But anyway...  Some people take bartending school (not many, but some) and that can go a long way.  A friend of mine went to a school that finds him a job afterwards, now apparently he can make drinks faster than me and has an even better job too, at a performing arts center.

But anyway!  I started bartending because I was serving at the same restaurant and bugged my way until I was back there.  Now I can probably get a job anywhere as long as theres an opening.

BUT!  If you don't mind going home at 3am+, you need to live near a bigger city, usually one with a down-town area.  That's usually where the money is.  I'm sure you can find a lot of spots if you look outside of there, but typically downtown of a bigger city will insure a $200+ night.

I wouldn't goto a school for it, because aside from you paying for it, you may not like bartending.  Making cool drinks is not the whole concept of bartending---it could actually be very unfun at times.  I'd say start off in a restaurant, see how you like the service industry... get some experience that way..  Then leave them in the dust for a better bar.

  5. Manhattan, New York Pretty much any bar would give u experience you need and is a good place to find whatever you need

  7. Whoa..did ya just wake up and said I wanna be a bartender. You have to go to training for that and is not as fun as going to a bar. Most men in bars are

    a.Drunk

    b.fight

c.You need to look for something else like more family friendly like "Hooters" where you get respect.

I work in a morgue as a assignant pathologist and I go every now and than to a bar..every weekend I go always a bar fight. One time the bartender got hit and cops had to come on over"Drama".Oh..work in gormans so you can get experience for your dream to open a boutique. Before I got my job I had to attend college for 2yrs in science and on work experience as a teenager I worked in funerals and churches.

Focus on your dream and use that for your business someday.

    good luck.
