I'd like a good safe route with nice scenery, maybe a park-like setting.

  1. Vauxhall is quite interesting in the evening. Very historic. xx

  2. Trafalgar Square when it's all lit up at night

  3. Primrose Hill

It's beautiful, safe, attractive park on a hilltop lovely views back down to central London (with the Zoo and Regents Park immediately in front of you)

Here's a photo I took from there one misty winter morning

But it's lovely on summer evenings too,

There are also a few nice pubs and restaurants/cafes (an excellent Russian tea-rooms too) along the main road in the neighbourhood, Regents Park Road

It's a ten minute walk from Chalk Farm tube http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=...

(and just a bit further from Swiss Cottage)

  4. Because of safety issues I wouldn't go anywhere except for the crowded places alone and if you've got only one person with you I wouldn't recommend the parks, however, if you're traveling with one or more people a walk along the Thames can be beautiful at night. I like to start in Westminster, cross the bridge to under the eye and walk along the South Bank to Tower Bridge. The Eye and Tower Bridge are gorgeous at night and there's some other pretty sites along the way.
