Depending on how far you are willing to drive....the New River Gorge in West Virginia is a great white water experience.  They have several rafting choices.

The New River Gorge Bridge is also something to see from below....where the rafting  trip ends.  

(a steel-arch bridge,  with a length of 3030 feet, it was for many years the longest in the world of that type.  Its arch extends 1700 feet.)

Part of U.S. Highway 19, it is crossed by an average of 17,000 motor vehicles per day.
