  1. Hi it all depends where you live, I am in the northwest of england and I got married in a hotel and it wasnt really cheaper than the church was going to be, but it was more relaxed etc, but unless you know where you want to get married up north there are loads of places.,

  2. I suppose it depends what sort of wedding you want ; lots of guests, few or no guests ; do you want to have a church service : do you want it to include your honeymoon.

Two examples I can give are my own and a relatives wedding.

I was married in the highlands of Scotland in church with just aother couple and combined it with our honeymoon. I didn't have to pay for the church but gave a donation. We stayed in a hotel for three nights and two cottages for 2 weeks. Total cost was probably in the region of £2000.

A relative of mine was married in a hotel on the banks of Ullswater in the Lake District with plenty of guests. Total cost in the region of £ 4500 , not including the honeymoon ,dress , flowers or paying for the guests accomodation .

Both these weddings had what one would wish for, but were obviously quite different.

I would say decide what you really want and what you are willing to spend to achieve this as obvious as this sounds. I would also suggest paying a visit to any of the places you may be thinking of before making a decision.

  3. Depends on your area.  You need to visit the venues and ask them for their wedding info.  Some hotels put this onto their websites, or you could email them and ask them to send out their wedding info and brochures.  These should have some of the prices included in the info, if they don`t you will need to phone them.

We found our 4 shortlisted venues on the internet, checking to see their menus and then checked other sites to see customer reviews.  We then visited them all, spoke to their events coordinators and checked out the prices etc.  We went with the friendliest ( although not necessarily the cheapest) and had a great day.

  4. Hello :) I am from the North West UK, where abouts are you from?

Me and my fiance are getting married in Holy Trinity Church, Southport. Here's the website; http://www.holytrinitysouthport.org.uk/ It is a beautiful large, old church. Really nicely decorated and run. The Vicar is lovely too, will contact you quickly, even via email!

We are having our reception at either the Scarisbrick Hotel or the Royal Clifton. I believe both of these hotels have the facilities for ceremonies too.

    Scarisbrick - http://www.scarisbrickhotel.com/

    Royal Clifton - http://www.royalclifton.co.uk/

The people we have spoken to at both hotels are very lovely and always willing to help. Their contact details are on the websites and they will probably send you a brochure if you ask.

The prices for receptions range from about £25 per head to £45/50 per head. They have lots of good deals, for example - the Scarisbrick gives you a free DJ if you have over 50 people for the wedding breakfast and over 100 for the reception.

They both have a choice of beautiful rooms, depending on your wedding size, too. And the room hire fee is included in the prices per head :)

The Scarisbrick offers children under 2 are free and 2 - 10 years old are half price, so good news if you have a lot of youngsters!! :) They also have food tasting for the bride and groom to go and have a tasting session to make sure you like the food!!

    Hope I have helped!!

  5. you should check out rochdale town hall...it was fatured in a wedding mag last month, its all done underground and its very beautiful.
