  1. My family likes Huntington Beach State Park, which is south of Myrtle Beach and north of Pawley's Island. You enter the park along a causeway that has water with alligators and huge numbers of birds on either side--the park's worth visiting for that alone. There is a guarded beach close to the end of the causeway, but if you turn left and drive a couple of miles there is another beach that I think is unguarded and is much less crowded.   3. you say nice beaches in s.c then mention myrtle.  myrtle is an awful beach from my experience.  

    if you are looking for just a good beach i recommend hilton head island.  i have heard pawley's island is good too.  i was recently at folly beach just outside of charleston.  that was a really good one.  the beach wasn't very crowded. there is still plenty to do.  there are a few things to do on the island its on and downtown charleston is about a 15 minute drive away.
