  1. Port Coquitlam, which became well known for its pig farms.

  2. Surrey....lol

  3. How much can you spend on a house? North and West Vancouver are nice but generally expensive.

  4. We live in metrown  south Burnaby  Close to the mall  ( 500) shops& stores  It has a busloop & sky train station for quick easy  travel .  its clean  people nice  Lots of asians live here  Filipino chineese  etc.  good rec. & seniors centers

  5. The nicest residential area to live close to Vancouver is

    1. downtown itself.

    2. Kitsilano

    3. Shaughnessy

    4. Burnaby or Deer Lake area

the next 3 would be West Van, North Van and then White Rock.

none of theses are cheap though

  6. It depends how much you mind a long commute to the city, if you're looking for a small town atmosphere with character or if convenience is more important to you, what you can afford and so on. There are lots of nice areas to live around Vancouver but it really depends on your preferences. I would need more information to answer this question properly.

If it's helpful here is where I would personally not live: Richmond is too flat and boring and will probably turn to mush in an earthquake. You always have to drive to get to shopping, otherwise it's just miles of houses and industrial areas. North Surrey (including Walley etc. ) is a rough area with a higher crime rate.

The Whiterock area is quite nice, in my opinion. It's a medium sized town that's developing quickly right now and has beautiful beaches, nice restaurants and shopping. It takes about 45 minutes to drive to downtown Vancouver from there when the traffic is light, but it would really be horrible if you had to commute during rush hour. There is no rapid transit to Whiterock yet.
