Where is a perfect place for a young couple to go for a 1st anniversery?

My boyfriend wants to take me away for our year anniversary and he's left it upto me to decide... something i should be pleased about but im really struggling to find somewhere nice. It's only for 3 days and all we really want in a pub nearby but i just cant find any romantic places to stay. I dont really want a traditionally romantic place but somewhere sweet where there is something to do during the days. We live in Derby and anywhere has gotta be better than here!! Nowhere outside of the country because its too expencive and im a student so somewhere in the UK would be perfect...

If you can think of anywhere you'd really be helping me out...

how about York, easy to get to, lovely hotels/B&B's, history, shops, pubs, museums, river trips, the yorkshire wheel (yorks smaller version of the london eye), nightlife, and friendly people.

Barnard castle is beautiful.  Myself and my boyfriend rented a secluded cottage and went on big romantic walks in the snow.

the cotswolds is nice and quiet at this time of year and not too expensive a small town like Burton on the water is ideal plenty of country pubs and b@bs, a very idealic place for a young couple good luck .
