my boyfriend is from Geneva and it's beautiful there!!

there is a japanese garden that would be perfect!! you'll have to call and set up a special time for them to open it for you so there won't be public people walking through it (it's also used for weddings). here is the info

Depends on how far you want to travel.Top of the Sears Tower? In Riverview park on top of a bluff overlooking the Mississippi in Alton? In Pere Marquette State Park with a view of two states? In Springfield, where honest Abe lived? Wish I could remember the name of the park in southern Illinois that has the huge rocks to climb on and see. Giant something. Rend lake?

Just moved to Illinois from Connecticut myself, relative big state!  If you're close enough, you could go to the Carillon bells in Naperville, that's a gorgeous site.  Sears Tower is an obvious standout, numerous places I can think of at Navy Pier as well.  Could also do it on a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan.  Really the best idea is to think about important places to her, what she likes, and then incorporate that into your plans.
