Where is a veiled chameleon's ears?

  1. Like snakes Veiled Chameleons do not have external ears. They can detect substrate vibration and may communicate using such vibrations. Although they lack an external ear they are capable of detecting sound made at specific frequencies, though they perceive this sound differently to how we do.


  2. It is believed that reptiles like the Veiled Chameleon and the Jackson's Chameleon have a special bone in their body that can sense sound, like the snake. I think this is true because my two Jackson's Chameleons respond differently to loud or soft sounds.
