I am disappointed! Every place I look, there is a ton of boxing talk going on about seemingly every top name fighter except Kelly Pavlik! What does he have to do to get some respect? He already beat Taylor, not once, but TWICE!! Taylor was talked about as one of the best pound for pound fighters today! But Pavlik is rarely even mentioned! Give me a break!

  1. Kelly gets plenty of run in p4p lists.  I think right now the talk about him has died down, because his next fight is a sort of holding fight against Gary Lockett, who he should easily beat.  Once he beats Lockett and sets up a bigger fight down the line, people will talk about him more.

  2. i havent heard it

  3. I'm a big Pavlik fan myself, but I can see why there really isnt that much talk about him right now.  He had two great wins over Taylor, but I think there really isnt much to talk about right now with his next fight.  Its not going to be as anticipated as the taylor fights.  And his division is kind of boring right now.  But if he keeps winning, the fights will come.  I'd like to see him fight Winky and maybe move up to fight Calzagee, but really, who else would make an interesting fight right now.  Hopefully someone, I like watching him.

  4. Kelly Pavlick is a great fighter with many years left the reason i think theres no news about him because he isn't fighting till june 7th.I taught he was beaten against Taylor the first time but he showed heart and courage to stop Taylor.

The second time he outboxed him.

He is the best middelweight in the world without a doubt.

Brilliant record of 33 wins 0 losses and has 29 ko's

  5. A Bum On The Street > Pavlik

  6. You're right, bro.  I guess Pavlik needs to trash talk and flaunt his money to make a dent.  Kind of sad that it takes everything BUT good fighting to get some run.  An awesome KO % just doesn't do it anymore.  Maybe he should crash his Bentley, beat on and rape women and get into a streetfight.  It worked for Tyson.

  7. Unless he is slated to fight a genuine threat I am not going too excited about Pavlik.  He is a good fighter, good power but after seeing him get knocked out on his feet in the first Taylor fight only to come back and win, I am not a huge fan anymore.  I hope he can make some money before Arthur Abraham or someone else gets to him first.  He is very beatable.  But a heck of a nice guy!

  8. I think right now fans have to see how the Hopkins-Calzaghe fights shakes out, so we'll have a better idea of what his big-time fight options are.  Its too bad, the middleweight division seems to just always be so vacant - his big fights are either against 154 pounders moving up or somewhere around 168.

I think he'll seek out big fights against Tito, Kessler, Lacy, Calzaghe/Hopkins, and other top guys that emerge from 154 - but at this point there really isn't much to talk about.  He's proven to be the best Middleweight out there, I think everyone is waiting to see what he does with someone other than Jermaine Taylor.

  9. You are correct hes much underrated and doesn't get the respect he deserves just yet at least, I believe he will still be around in 5 years so he still has some time.

  10. I talk about Pavlik a lot. He just doesn't have a big upcoming fight right now. Pavlik is THE MAN!

  11. There have been about a half dozen high profile fights in the past couple months, and Pavlik has simply not been involved in them.  With Manuel and Juan Marquez's fights with Pacquiao and Vasquez,  Diaz losing to Nate C., Casamayor's gem with Katsidis, talk of Cotto and Margarito as well as the upcoming Hopkins/Calzaghe, boxing has had a pretty full year.  A lot of light heavyweight action and even of all things a heavyweight unification bout, have distracted the boxing public away from Pavlik.  I agree, he hasn't had a lot of press, but given the up surge boxing has experienced in the past year, it's understandable.

Kelly is a great guy, and could become a great champion.  His time will come, but in case the MMA fan's who have asked in the past haven't noticed, boxing is alive and well.
