  1. any human settlement. Your own town by exemple.

First it was near a water course and, perhaps, a small forest. Then someone was settled. The forest was off on time to build houses. then villages, then towns, factories an gateways anywhere. Nobody could by now to recognized the ancient landscape in.

  2. The Panama and Suez Canals.  Also there are a lot of man-made lakes out there.  Also there's a lot of erosion out there that over time has been caused by development.

  3. Lets see... Mt Rushmore for starters.  Then there are the terraced hillsides of the Inca in the Andes.  Washington DC, Boston, and New York City are not like they looked when the pilgrims arrived.  Those cities have filled in some of the bays and such to make room for development.  Look at the coast of Dubai.

  4. Here's just a few: Cities and towns, farms, canals, reservoirs and man made lakes, dams, mines, urbanized rivers, managed forests.

  5. Any open cast mine and what about any river valley that  has been dammed.
