Question:

Where is best to dive on the Australian east coast other than Great .B. Reef??

Will be traveling between Sydney and Brisbane and really keen on getting some underwater time. Would appreciate people's input who live or have scuba dived in this region.

  1. Stradbroke Island in Queensland near Cleveland is a good spot to dive.I believe you might even be lucky enough to dive with smaller sharks and potato cod.Moreton Island is also a good place to dive and it is a very easy and relaxing dive.There is a PADI diving company is Brisbane and they also take divers to different places of interest depending on weather conditions.


  2. Byron Bay, South West Rocks (near Kempsey), and Seal Rocks (near Forster) are listed in my old diving manual as the best places to visit in the north of NSW, but I haven't dived for 15 years. There used to be a diving guide called Tom Byron's guide, for NSW north and NSW south - you might be able to find a copy, I think you'd find it very helpful.
