Where is best to stop off for a week on the way & return journey to oz & can anyone recommend a website?

I don't know if it's an option that is available but I'd choose Istanbul. If I was feeling more adventurous I might choose Chennai (Madras). I think that the best way is to go to an independent holiday website and put in your starting point and destination and see which stopovers are offered.

Depends if you are going via asia or the US. When I travel to Australia my favourite stop overs are Hong Kong and KL. Singapore is also a good option, but there isn't really enough to do there to fill a week.

depending on what time of year you are going to Aus,I went at the end of Feb for 6 weeks which is the end of there summer but was still 39c most of the time Stopped off in Dubai for a week on the way back which was the start of their summer 35c and rising up to 40 when we left.Best checking what month you are going and what the temp will be in different stop overs at that time of year.

Booked my trip with the local co-op travel  just went in with itinerary and asked them to find best deal,
