Where is biomass energy being used in the world currently?

It seems that biomass is currently being used a lot in developing countries, but I heard the burning and distilling was a costly process.

Burning wood in fireplaces of course, is a biomass energy process.

But does anyone know of countries in the world that are currently using biomass energy, or alike?

Thanks ; )

  1. Nearly every part of the world has a biomass resource that can be tapped to make biofuels and generate electric power. From coconut or rice husks to fast-growing trees, from perennial grasses to scrap wood, there is a (probably under-utilized) form of biomass almost anywhere you go on Earth.
