  1. The Ritz are of course famous for their afternoon tea but you have to book a few weeks in advance and it can be quite expensive. My mom came to visit me and we had a lovely time at the Cadogan Hotel in Knightbridge (just off Sloane Street) which serves English afternoon tea in the Drawing Room. Really nice traditional atmosphere and not crowded as not too many people know about it. And it costs much less than the one at the Ritz. Other alternatives is the high tea at Fortnum and Mason or the Athenaeum which is diagonally opposite the Ritz and serves afternoon tea as well. Enjoy!

  2. I love the afternoon tea at the Savoy hotel.  It's pricey, but not the most expensive, and is definitely worth it. They serve scones with jam and cream, mini sandwiches and tiny desserts (not to mention tea and champagne). Yum!

  3. My house. Come and have tea and cakes in the afternoon with me and my family. It won't cost you anything, except a friendly chat and a warm smile.

  4. HAve you tried Fornum and Mason, in Piccadilly? its really reaonable, and its really nice. they do really nice scones, and cakes and GREAT ice cream.

Ritz? the Savoy is quite Pricey, but its nice. there's a Marriott near the Old vic theatre,. which does REALLY NICE afternoon tea.

Alternatively what about the tate modern? You can sit in their cafe overlooking the river? But i guess not a "proper" afternoon tea.
