  1. its in the tower of London amongst the crown jewels

  2. Go to Tower Hill Tube Station or Fenchurch Street overground station and follow the signs to Her Majesty's Tower of London.

Once inside you need to head to the Jewel House, it has a big black clock on the front of it and is easy to spot.

As you shuffle through to get to the crown jewels you'll see several films, some of the coronation and some close ups of the collection.

One film will explain all about to Kohinoor and how it was actually cut into two seperate pieces.

The larger piece is in the septre, at the very top, and is the largest cut diamond in the world. The smaller is in the Imperial State Crown. It's set at the front.

There is a crown called the St Edwards crown which is gold and covered with jewels, that's known as the coronation crown, but it's only placed on the monarch's head at the moment of coronation. It's lifted off almost immediately and replaced with the Imperial State Crown. This is the crown seen in all the photographs and portraits and the one the Queen wears for state occasions.

During the tour of the Jewel House you'll see a replica of the Kohinoor in the state it was discovered, how it was cut in two and how the two main diamonds and many other smaller ones were cut from the one piece.

Queen Victoria has such a small head that she couldn't comfortably wear the Imperial State Crown and had a special lightweight crown, around the size of a teacup, made for her to wear instead. it was covered with small diamonds so she didn't have the Kohinoor in her crown.
