Where is more expensive to live, California or Santa Fe NM?

Though it is true that most of New Mexico is very cheap to live in, Santa Fe is one of the most expensive places in the country to live. Talk about $1500 rent and $25 cheeseburgers.

Despite that fact, there are a couple of places in California that are more expensive. Not many, but a few, since there are more wealthy people there (such a huge area).

Santa Fe is known more as an artists' retreat, a place for celebs to live away from the hubbub of Hollywood.

Uuummmm...$1500 for rent in New Mexico may be expensive, but if you're living in California, that's cheap!  I live in southern California, and $2500 and up is pretty standard for rent.  The cost of living is more here as well, not to mention just rent...

Depends on the area of CA, but overall if you compare CA to NM, CA is more expensive.

NM is going through a boom right now...California may be more expensive now, but if you buy in NM soon, you will have a pretty chunk of change in a few years if you should decide to sell....
