  1. I just stayed in a log cabin in Killin just last week. It's a lovely area, and great if they want a relaxing holiday with nice scenic walks. Its a bit of a long drive to anywhere though. Thats the only drawback.

I also visited Stirling for the day, and that was a nice place. Plenty of history there to see and do, and its not too far from some nicer, quieter areas as well. I'd reccomend considering Stirling.

  2. spoilt for choice. depends if they want a rural break or a city break.

Pitlochry is a braw town in the middle of stunning scenery - so you get the best of both.

  3. Edinburgh is perfect for a few days for anyone, any age, at any time of the year.  Set amidst beautiful countryside  Lots of things to see and do, museums, gardens, short trip to the coast, good hotels, nice restaurants and pubs.  Also there is the Edinburgh Festival in August.

  5. Coylumbridge Hotel just outside Aviemore has the best of the countryside and is close to small towns.

Edinburgh has lots to do obviously.

For scenery and a quiet atmosphere somethwere like Inveraray with it's beautiful sea loch and historic castle. It's like being in the Highlands without travelling so far
