We were thinking Clifton, Redland or Bedminster. Clifton is pretty pricey, though...

  1. st george...? i live here, its lovely and so is clifton, redland and bedminster, cotham and henleaze :)

  2. Can't really add to DQ's answer. One thing to note is that parking, if you own a car, is REALLY bad in Clifton!

I second the Gloucester Road option, there are some good neighbourhoods around there, but make sure you look at the top end, not Stokes Croft!

  3. Clifton is a nice place to live, but yea alittle pricey. Bedminster i would say don't bother. Same with Knowle (unless it's the upper bit of knowle, near Broadwalk), Hartcliffe, Withywood, Easton, St Paul's.. Unless you like abit of trouble.

Whitchruch is a nice place to live in, if you like a immigration housing down the road.

I live in Knowle West, have done all my life.

Goodluck on finding a house (:

  4. in a hole somewhere

  5. Clifton is nice and so is Totterdown.

  6. Most places in the North of the city Mangotsfield, Downend, Staple Hill etc are fine, Clifton and Redland are nice but very expensive and full of student bedsits and wannabe snobs, avoid Bedminster as it's too close to Knowle West. Westbury On Trym and St Andrews are worth a look. Avoid St Pauls and all the surrounding areas unless you have a death wish !

  7. Clifton is nice but extremely pricey.

Redland and Cotham are almost the same area fwiw and they are both nice enough, but pricey, although they do have good access to the Gloucester Road and are within walking distance of Broadmead.

Bedminster is fine, if a little downmarket, with more people who call you "my luvver". It's on the cheaper end, but it is not a bad area and although I have worked there for the last 20 months I have never felt threatened at all. Southville is the slightly more gentrified end of Bedminster.

  8. You didn't say what your price range was....;]

Clifton and Redland are lovely areas and nice and close to the city centre but really expensive.

St. Andrews is worth a look- it's near Gloucester Road, which is full of resturants and little shops. It also very easy to get to the city from here.

If your budget is about 190-250k, Hanham and Kingswood are nice and near both Bath and Bristol.

You can also find nice houses in this price range in Filton- but I would avoid the bottom end of Filton Avenue as they've put up a huge council estate recently. I used to live in one of the private houses on the outskirts of one of these areas. All I got was kids hanging around and things getting vandalised. It wasn't good.

But St. Andrews and Hanham are lovely- the houses there are big and with large airy rooms!

    Hope I've helped! x
