  1. chromium is the key ingredient in stainless steel, besides decorative chrome plating hard chrome plating is used on things like hydraulic  cylinders for it's hardness and wear resistance.  also chrome compounds are the basis of many dyes

  2. The first close case of chromium that many do not realize is that they use chrome salts to tan many leathers and that many people have to order shoes from sources that do not use it because they are allergic to it. Chrome plating is still used on many items on cars. Stainless steel and tools have chromium as part of their alloys, so your stainless cutlery and pans have chrome in them. Seems to me I remember one of the newest supplement as using chromium as part of it's make-up. The roller shafts in your printer are chrome plated. Almost all resisters in your electronics are made of a chrome-nickel alloy. If your parents own a boat, you will see all sorts of hardware and fittings made using chrome plating. If you have colored glass items, many of the reds, blues, and greens come from chrome added to the glass. Hope this gives you a few that will surprise your teacher.

Krypton is used in your mag light bulbs.

  3. Chromium is a constiutent of "chrome bumpers" on cars...especially automobiles 20 yrs and older. Chromium is also found in good concentrations in certain foods such as brewer's yeast, wheat germ, whole grains, and in seafood. Do a wikipedia search for chromium, and it should give you more details on it's use in the steel industry, and in steel alloys.

Zinc is commonly used to "galvanize" metals, offering protection against corrosion. Zinc in nature is found in high concentrations in oysters, red meat, wheat germ...animal sources are the highest in zinc.

Krypton...that's one you'll have to look up! Good luck to you...hope this little piece of info helps!

  4. Chromium's best source is brewers yeast.

  5. If i'm not mistaken Chrome and Chromium are the same thing. Various car parts can be chrome plated - rims, bumpers, exhausts, etc. I think that's fair game.

As for krypton, you can always go to superman's house and ask him. Bad joke, i know. Krypton is the gas they sometimes put in incandescent light bulbs.
