  1. Pocono's area.  check on line many great resorts or bed and breakfast.

  2. If you are willing to drive Elk Mountain has THE best skiing in Pennsylvania. about 40 minutes north of Scranton.

  3. Depends on what level skier you are and what you you want: an all inclusive resort, or just skiing and perhaps a bar, or  a good ski school to help work out that kink in your turn etc.

Post some addition info and I will try to narrow it down for you.

  4. Check out the PA Ski Area Association webpage.

    http://www.skipa.com

  5. Depends on where in Maryland as to which would be closest/best. If you're in the frederick, Baltimore, DC triangle area then Roundtop and Liberty are the closest. They also have $29 learn to ski/ride packages through friday. I'm headed to roundtop from baltimore on friday myself.

I've included 4 links below to different ones. Also don't forget WV (timberline, snowshoe, etc) and Virginia (bryce, and I forget the others) have some as well as western Maryland (wisp).
